And that’s saying quite a bit.

Belief.net posted an interview with Mike Huckabee. It succeeded in making my head burst, and it took me about an hour and a half to find the pieces and reassemble it.

Choice nuggets of mindblowing wisdom:

Is it your goal to bring the Constitution into strict conformity with the Bible? Some people would consider that a kind of dangerous undertaking, particularly given the variety of biblical interpretations.

Well, I don’t think that’s a radical view to say we’re going to affirm marriage. I think the radical view is to say that we’re going to change the definition of marriage so that it can mean two men, two women, a man and three women, a man and a child, a man and animal. Again, once we change the definition, the door is open to change it again. I think the radical position is to make a change in what’s been historic.

Aside from the uncomfortable comparisons between the Bible and the constitution in the interview, what really, truly bothers me off is how homophobic conservatives are so eager to mention homosexuality, BESTIALITY and PEDOFUCKINGPHILIA in the same fucking breath. I’m sure there’s plenty of @#$%#$!ing &@#$!#ed %$@%!s who believe that, but to think this man is running for the US PRESIDENCY is lunacy.

AND HE WON IOWA. May I remind you that this is someone who, among other things, believes the earth is 6,000 years young, and equates abortion to a holocaust and has a concealed carry permit.

Pardon the caps and profanity. This is the, er, edited version.

huckabee and romney scare the living shit out of me. I would never want anyone in charge who worships supernatural dieties so strongly – it’s primitive and so are many of the messages it teaches. they can shove their organized ignorance, hate, and fear.

  2. Ugh he’s so terrifying. I am so fucking done with the Christian right running this country. SO. FUCKING. DONE.

  3. also, this obstinate refusal to even consider any change in the status quo, because of some fake obsession with some imaginary Rockwellian “good old days,” is one of my pet peeves about conservatives like him. In particular with regards to marriage. Not to mention the total ignorance of the historical context regarding marriage, the fact that it used to be a purely social/economic contract, was used to secure political allegiances or gain access to money, land, or social class, and that WOMEN WERE CONSIDERED THEIR HUSBANDS’ PROPERTY and treated like nothing more than brood mares. But to hear them tell it, it’s all been about love and the sanctity of the nuclear family since day 1. And don’t even get me started on the rank hypocrisy of pretending the precious institution of marriage isn’t riddled with infidelity and divorce. But all of that’s OK, as long as Teh Gays don’t get to get involved in it.

ok so this is an old post but what he is saying with out people ripping it apart with their own prejuices against people that accually know the TRUE MEANING OF THE WORD AND DEFINITION MARRIAGE… Frick what he is trying to say is that marriage is a biblical term and the bible is against homosexuality and bestiality and such….he is not saying that he is.. he is religious and he is living under his god and the term marriage comes from teh bible…yes the bible says alot of terrible things against gays and women but its the TERM AND WHERE IT IS DERIVED FROM. our nation was built under laws that were governed by god. yes they need to change now but frick people understand where things come from before you think some one is homophobic…..yes things need to change but it can never be called a marriage between gays. unless you want to rewrite the bible.
